Additional Projects

 UMASS is a statewide five-campus university offering undergrad and advanced degrees in a variety of different market segments. Avid has worked on the UMASS campuses since 2009 providing design work for various projects including advanced laboratories, office renovations, campus wide server systems, system upgrades, and various code compliance, system audits for multiple projects throughout.
Harvard University, located in Cambridge MA, is the oldest private Ivy League research university in the world. Avid has completed various projects at the university including a MAAB compliant renovation to four buildings throughout the campus. Projects include; The Adams House, Conant Hall, Perkins Hall, & Winthrop House. Design Program included;  selected demolition and modifications to the HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems allowing the spaces to become more aesthetically pleasing, energy efficient, and ADA accessible. Special consideration had to be taken on the project to limit the disruption to the existing building infrastructure and systems.
The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, is the oldest independent school of music in the United States. Avid was retained to provide documentation to replace the roof mounted mechanical and electrical equipment that was reaching the end of its life cycle. Three buildings were renovated throughout the process, included Jordan Hall, 295 Huntington Ave, and the residence hall at 33 Gainsborough Street. Avid provided bidding and construction administration services throughout the multi-phased replacement effort. The interior areas were evaluated at each building and additional cooling capacity was provided in conjunction with equipment replacement.
Boston University is a private research institution offering undergraduate and advanced degrees through 18 schools and colleges on two urban campuses. Avid was responsible for a system assessment and a renovation to the BU School of medicine’s sleep lab. The project took special consideration in creating comfortable, noise deficient environments for test subjects to sleep. Design program included new bathrooms, reception area, and additional testing labs in the 4000 SF renovation.
The University of Maine, established in 1865, is a public flagship research university located in Orono, Maine. Avid design team worked with the University to develop their new FBRI Technology Center (Forest Bio-products Research Institute’s Technology Research Center.) The new 40,000-square-foot facility, located on the grounds of Old Town Fuel & Fiber.  Design program features state-of-the-art process control and information systems to commercialize developing fuel, chemical and advanced material technologies from forest bio-products at an industrially relevant scale.
